Laurie Smith Camp
Laurie Smith Camp was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the District of Nebraska. She joined the court in 2001 after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R). She assumedsenior status on December 1, 2018. Camp's service officially ended on September 23, 2020, when she died.
Camp served as chief judge of the court from 2011 to 2018.[1]
Education
Camp graduated from Stanford University with her bachelor's degree in 1974. She graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School in 1977.[1]

Federal judicial nomination

On the recommendation of SenatorChuck Hagel, Camp was nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R) onSeptember 4, 2001, to a seat vacated by JudgeWilliam Cambridge. TheU.S. Senate confirmed Camp's nomination onOctober 23, 2001. She received commission onOctober 24, 2001. Camp retired from full-time service, assumingsenior status, December 1, 2018. Her service officially ended on September 23, 2020, when she died.[1]
Camp served as chief judge of the court from 2011 to 2018.[1]
