Lansing Mitchell
Lansing Leroy Mitchell (1914-2001) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
Mitchell was nominated by PresidentLyndon Johnson on October 6, 1966, to a new seat created by 80 Stat. 75; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 20, 1966, and received commission onNovember 3, 1966. he assumedsenior status onNovember 3, 1981. He served the Eastern District of Louisiana until his death onApril 24, 2001.[1] Mitchell was succeeded in this position byHenry Mentz.
