Kiran Ahuja was the director of the Office of Personnel Management. The Senate confirmed her on June 22, 2021, by a vote of 51-50. Vice PresidentKamala Harris (D) cast thetie-breaking vote.[1][2] Ahuja stepped down from the position in May 2024.[3]

Ahuja is the former chief of staff at the Office of Personnel and Management, where she served during theObama administration. She was the CEO of Philanthropy Northwest from 2017 to 2021.

Biography

Ahuja graduatedsumma cum laude from Spelman College with a B.A. in political science in 1993. She earned a J.D.cum laude from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998.[4]

From 1999 to 2002, Ahuja was a trial attorney at the civil rights division of theU.S. Department of Justice. She then taught at the American University Washington College of Law as an adjunct professor while working as the executive director of the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum.[4]

In the Obama administration, Ahuja was the executive director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders from 2009 to 2015. She also served as the chief of staff of the Office of Personnel Management from 2015 to 2017.[4]

In 2017, she became the CEO of Philanthropy Northwest.[4]
