Kenneth Ryskamp
Kenneth L. Ryskamp was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He joined the court in 1986 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. He elected to takesenior status beginning on January 1, 2000, and served as a senior judge until his death on November 16, 2017.[1][2]
Early life and education
A native ofGrand Rapids, Michigan, Ryskamp graduated from Calvin College with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and from the University of Miami School of Law with hisJ.D. in 1956.[1]

Ryskamp was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on March 12, 1986, to a seat on theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of Florida vacated byJoseph Eaton. Hearings on Ryskamp's nomination were held before theSenate Judiciary Committee on April 9, 1986, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) on April 17, 1986. Ryskamp was confirmed on a voice vote of theU.S. Senate on April 23, 1986, and he received his commission the next day. Ryskamp elected to takesenior status beginning on January 1, 2000, and he served as senior judge until his death on November 16, 2017. Ryskamp was succeeded in this position by JudgePaul Huck.[1][3]
Eleventh Circuit nomination
Ryskamp was nominated by PresidentGeorge H.W. Bush to a seat on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit vacated byPaul Roney. Hearings on Ryskamp's nomination were held before theSenate Judiciary Committee on March 19-20, 1991, but the committee voted not to report Ryskamp's nomination to the full Senate for final confirmation.[4][5]
