Joseph M. James
Joseph M. James was a judge of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas inPennsylvania. He was appointed to this position in April 1987, elected later that year, and retained in 1997 and 2007.[1] James retired from the court in June 2013.[2]
Education
James received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1970 and hisJ.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1973.[1]
Career
James began his judicial career as a judge for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas in 1987 and initially served on the Criminal Division. He was then reassigned to the Civil division in 1992. From 2000 to 2003, James served as the administrative judge of the Civil Division. He then served as president judge from 2003 to 2008.[1]
