John Simson Woolson
John Simson Woolson (1840-1899) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
He received a recess appointment from PresidentBenjamin Harrison on August 14, 1891 and was nominated on December 10th. He was confirmed by the Senate onJanuary 11, 1892, and received commission that same day. He served until his death onDecember 4, 1899. Woolson was succeeded in this position bySmith McPherson.
