John Marvin Jones
John Marvin Jones (1886-1976) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Claims. He was nominated to the court by PresidentFranklin D. Roosevelt onApril 9, 1940, and was confirmed the following day. He received commission on November 20, 1940. He was commissioned aschief justice onJuly 9, 1947, after an appointment byHarry Truman. The following year, he was reassigned as chief judge. He assumedsenior status onJuly 14, 1964, and served in that capacity until his death onMarch 4, 1976.[1]
Education
Jones received an A.B. from John Denton College in 1902, a B.S. from Southwestern University in 1905, and an LL.B. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1907.[1]
Military service
Jones served in the U.S. Army as a private in the 308th Battalion, Tank Corps, in 1918.[1]
