John Duhe
John Malcolm Duhe, Jr. was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit. He joined the court in 1988 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan (R). His service ended on May 16, 2025, upon his death.[1]
Early life and education
Born inIberia Parish, Louisiana, Duhe graduated from Tulane University with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and from Tulane Law School with hisLL.B. in 1957.[1]

Duhe was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on June 27, 1988, to a seat vacated by JudgeAlbert Tate. Hearings on Duhe's nomination were held before theUnited States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on August 9, 1988, and his nomination was reported by then-U.S. Sen.Joseph Biden (D-Del.) on October 5, 1988. Duhe was confirmed by the unanimous consent of theU.S. Senate on October 14, 1988, and he received his commission on October 17, 1988. Duhe assumedsenior status on April 7, 1999.[1][2] He was succeeded in this position by JudgeEdith Clement.
Western District of Louisiana
Duhe was nominated to theUnited States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana by PresidentRonald Reagan on May 15, 1984, to a seat vacated by JudgeEugene Davis. Duhe was confirmed on a voice vote of theUnited States Senate on June 8, 1984, and he received his commission onJune 11, 1984. Duhe resigned from the district court onNovember 9, 1988, upon his elevation to theFifth Circuit Court of Appeals.[1] He was succeeded in this position by JudgeRichard Haik.
