Judicial nominations and appointments
Western District of Tennessee
John Martin previously served on theUnited States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.
He was nominated by PresidentFranklin Delano Roosevelt on April 22, 1935 to replaceHarry Bennett Anderson. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 30th, and received commission onMay 3rd. He served on this court untilSeptember 16, 1940.[1] Martin was succeeded in this position byMarion Boyd.
Sixth Circuit
He was nominated by PresidentFranklin Delano Roosevelt on August 12, 1940 to a seat created by 54 Stat. 219. He was confirmed by the Senate on August 27th, and received commission onSeptember 4th. In 1959, he was the chief judge. He served on this court until his death onApril 2, 1962.[1]
