I'm married, a father of four, and a lifelong member of the Ypsilanti community. I'm currently serving as a Ypsilanti Township (pop. 55K) Trustee, after being elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. I have a broad, progressive platform, built around education, housing, and health care, including mental health care.

If you value workers’ rights, I’m the only candidate endorsed by labor unions, including teachers and firefighters. If you value public schools, I have the endorsement of a dozen local school board members, including 3 school board presidents. If you value civil rights, I’m the only candidate endorsed by the Black Caucus, LGBTQ+ elected officials, Planned Parenthood, and mental health and criminal justice reform advocates. If you value experience, I’m the only candidate who has served in elected office.

Good government requires good working relationships. Growing community requires community with others. I'm proud of the relationships I've built while serving in the Township and elsewhere. I know that if you do me the honor of sending me to Lansing, with your support I'll have everything I need to do the work that needs to be done.
  • Quality health care, including mental health care, and housing are human rights.
  • Educational equity should be measured in the classroom, not financial spreadsheets.
  • For people to thrive, their community must thrive, and the work of achieving that is accomplished with others.
Housing, education, and health care, including mental health care are the core of my platform. These are essential to thriving. We all have a need to be safely housed and for our bodies and minds to have the best possible care. These things enable to us learn about and care for our world, others, and ourselves, and to in turn share our own particular contributions to our families and communities.
I see my role as a legislator as one who works with others on behalf of the people of my community to secure funding and support legislation that promote stability and opportunity.

Scorecards

Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
