John Doe investigations

TwoJohn Doe investigations, beginning in 2010 and ending in 2015, were launched byMilwaukee County District AttorneyJohn Chisholm (D) into the activities of staff and associates of Gov.Scott Walker (R).[9] In September 2014,Eric O'Keefe, one of the targets of the second John Doe investigation, sent a certified letter to Chisholm requesting that he ask the court to appoint a special investigator to investigate Chisholm and his office. O'Keefe felt Chisholm's conduct during the course of the two John Doe investigations was highly questionable, stating "Your course of conduct in that matter merits criminal investigation for Misconduct in Public Office and related offenses."[10]

Chisholm handed off O'Keefe's request toMilwaukee County Chief Judge Jeffrey Kremers. Kremers told theMilwaukee Journal Sentinel that he would consider appointing a special prosecutor to investigate Chisholm if O'Keefe made a direct request. O'Keefe subsequently sent a certified letter to Kremers asking that a special prosecutor investigate Chisholm. No investigation was launched.[11][12][13]
