Jean Sala Breitenstein (1900-1986) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and theUnited States District Court for the District of Colorado.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Tenth Circuit

Breitenstein was nominated to the Tenth Circuit by PresidentDwight Eisenhower on June 5, 1957, to a seat vacated byWalter Huxman. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 26, 1957, and received his commission onJune 27, 1957. Breitenstein assumedsenior status onJuly 31, 1970, and served in that capacity until his death onJanuary 30, 1986.[1]

District of Colorado

Breitenstein was nominated to the District of Colorado by PresidentDwight Eisenhower on April 6, 1954, to a new seat created by 68 Stat. 8. Breitenstein was confirmed by the Senate on April 23, 1954, and received his commission onApril 27, 1954. He served the District of Colorado until he was elevated to the Tenth Circuit onJuly 9, 1957.[1] Breitenstein was succeeded in this position by JudgeAlfred Arraj.
