Jabar Shumate
Jabar Shumate (b. January 26, 1976) is a formerDemocratic member of theOklahoma State Senate, representingDistrict 11 from 2012 to January 6, 2015. He resigned to take a job in the private sector.[1]
He served in theOklahoma House of Representatives, representing District 73 from 2004 to 2012. He served asAssistant Minority Floor Leader.
Biography
Shumate earned his B.A. in Public Affairs/Administration from the University of Oklahoma. His professional experience includes working as a public relations consultant and as press secretary for the University of Oklahoma.[2]

2010
Shumate won re-election to theOklahoma House of Representatives. He defeated Kevin Matthews in the Democratic primary, by a margin of 1,762-1,660. He was unopposed in the general election on November 2, 2010.[8][9][10][11] Vote totals were not reported for unopposed candidates.
2008
On November 4, 2008, Shumate won re-election to theOklahoma House of Representatives. Because he ran unopposed, the number of votes was not published.[12] $73,500 was raised for this campaign.[13]
