Ira Lloyd Letts
Ira Lloyd Letts (1889-1947) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He joined the court in 1928 after an appointment fromCalvin Coolidge. At the time of his appointment he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney General. He resigned onJune 24, 1935 to return to private practice.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
District of Rhode Island
Letts received a recess appointment from PresidentCalvin Coolidge on June 9, 1927 to replaceArthur Lewis Brown. On December 6, 1927, he was nominated. He was confirmed by the Senate onJanuary 4, 1928, and received commission that same day. He resigned onJune 24, 1935. Letts was succeeded in this position byJohn Christopher Mahoney.[1]
