TheIndiana Commissioner of Labor is a state executive position in the Indiana state government. The commissioner of labor is responsible for overseeing the Indiana State Department of Labor, which implements the state's labor regulations, promotes arbitration, mediation, and conciliation of disputes between employers and employees, and performs statistical research on the Indiana labor market.[1] The director serves at the pleasure of thegovernor.

Title 22, Article 1, Chapter 1 of the Indiana Code addresses the office of director of natural resources:[1]
There is created a department of labor, which shall be administered by a commissioner of labor. |

Appointments
The commissioner of labor is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the governor.[1]
The commissioner of labor shall be appointed by the governor and shall serve at the will of the governor. The commissioner serves until the commissioner's successor is appointed and qualified. |

Duties
The commissioner of labor is responsible for overseeing the Indiana State Department of Labor, which implements the state's labor regulations, promotes arbitration, mediation, and conciliation of disputes between employers and employees, and performs statistical research on the Indiana labor market. The department also has a bureau of mines and mine safety as well as a bureau of child labor.[1]
