Munson was nominated by PresidentGerald Ford on August 26, 1976, to a seat vacated byEdmund Port; he was confirmed by the Senate on September 23, 1976, and received commission onOctober 4. He served aschief judge from 1980-1988. He assumedsenior status onNovember 5, 1990, and served in that capacity until his death onOctober 5, 2008.[1]
