Henry Alvan Mentz, Jr. (1920-2005) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Mentz was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on June 2, 1982, to a seat vacated byLansing Mitchell; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 24, 1982, and received commission onJune 25, 1982. He assumedsenior status onJuly 1, 1992. He served the Eastern District of Louisiana until his retirement inDecember 31, 2001.^[1] Mentz was succeeded in this position bySarah Vance. Mentz passed away on January 23, 2005.
