Harry Vearle Payne (1908-1983) was afederal judge on theUnited States District Court for the District of New Mexico.

Payne was nominated by PresidentJohn F. Kennedy on February 18, 1963, to a seat vacated byCarl Hatch; he was confirmed by the Senate on March 19, 1963, and received his commission onMarch 27th. He served aschief judge from 1964 until he assumedsenior status onApril 6, 1978. He served until his death onJuly 20, 1983.[1] Payne was succeeded in this position bySantiago Campos.
