Wood was nominated to the Seventh Circuit by PresidentGerald Ford on April 14, 1976, to a seat vacated byJohn Paul Stevens; he was confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 1976, and received commission thenext day. He assumedsenior status onJanuary 15, 1992. He served the Seventh Circuit until his death onDecember 29, 2008.

Southern District of Illinois

Wood was nominated to the Southern District of Illinois by PresidentRichard Nixon on May 11, 1973, to a seat vacated byOmer Poos; he was confirmed by the Senate on July 13, 1973, and received commission onJuly 18, 1973. He served the Southern District of Illinois until he was elevated to the Seventh Circuit onMay 28, 1976.[1]
