Glenn Suddaby is afederal judge onsenior status with theUnited States District Court for the Northern District of New York. He served as chief judge from 2015 to 2022. He joined the court in 2008 after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R). He assumed senior status on September 1, 2024.[1][2]

Biography

Education

Suddaby graduated from State University of New York, Plattsburgh with his undergraduate degree in 1980 and later graduated from Syracuse University College of Law with hisJ.D. degree in 1985.[1]

Professional career

Suddaby began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in theOnondaga County District Attorney's Office from 1985 to 1989 before becoming a private practice attorney licensed in the State ofNew York from 1989 to 1992. In 1992, Suddaby joined the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office as the first chief assistant district attorney, where he served for ten years. From 2002 to 2008, he served asU.S. attorney for theNorthern District of New York, after being nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R).[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of New York

Suddaby was nominated by PresidentGeorge W. Bush (R) onDecember 11, 2007, to a seat vacated byLawrence Kahn as Kahn assumedsenior status. Suddaby was confirmed by the U.S.Senate onJuly 22, 2008, and received commission onAugust 29, 2008. He assumed senior status on September 1, 2024.[1]
