George Cheney Pratt (b. 1928) was a judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He joined the court in 1982 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. Prior to that, Pratt served on theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He joined that court in 1976 after an appointment fromGerald Ford. At the time of his appointment, he was a private practice attorney. Pratt assumedsenior status onMay 22, 1993, and retiredJanuary 31, 1995 to teach law.[1]

Pratt was nominated to theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit by PresidentRonald Reagan on April 26, 1982, to a seat vacated byWilliam Timbers. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 18, 1982, and received his commission onJune 21, 1982. Pratt assumedsenior status onMay 22, 1993, and retiredJanuary 31, 1995.[1] He was succeeded to this post byPierre Leval.

Eastern District of New York

Pratt was nominated to theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of New York byGerald Ford on April 13, 1976, to a seat vacated byAnthony Travia. He was confirmed by the Senate on May 6, 1976, and received commission onMay 7, 1976. Service terminated on June 29, 1982, due to appointment to the Second Circuit.[1] Pratt was succeeded in this position fromLeonard Wexler.
