George Michael Marovich is anArticle III federal judge for theUnited States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Marovich is serving onsenior status. He joined the court in 1988 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan.

Early life and education

A native Chicago citizen, Marovich earned both his bachelor's andJ.D. Degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1952 and 1954.[1]

Judicial career

Northern District of Illinois

On recommendation by former Congressman Henry Hyde, Marovich was nominated to theUnited States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois by PresidentRonald Reagan on February 2, 1988, to a seat vacated bySusan Getzendanner. Marovich was confirmed by the Senate on March 31, 1988, and received commission onApril 1, 1988. Marovich assumed senior status onJanuary 2, 2000.[1] Marovich was succeeded in this position byJohn Darrah.
