Biography
Gary Simmons was born inSavannah, Georgia, and lives inMaryland. Simmons earned a B.S. in political science and criminal justice from Tuskegee University in 1990. His career experience includes working for the board of elections inSuffolk County, New York, the Suffolk County Probation Office, and theUnited States Attorney’s Office (New York Eastern District). After moving to Maryland in 2006, Simmons worked as a special police officer with the U.S. Department of Defense. He was also a captain at the U.S. Publishing Office in Washington, D.C. Simmons retired in 2017.[1][2]
