Frank X. Altimari (1928-1998) was a judge of several state and federal courts inNew York, including theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He joined theSecond Circuit in 1985 after an appointment fromRonald Reagan. He joined theEastern District of New York in 1982. At the time of his appointment, he served as the Administrative Judge of All Courts for theNew York State Supreme Court. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1996 and served the court until his death on July 19, 1998.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Second Circuit

Altimari was nominated to the Second Circuit byPresident Ronald Reagan on October 23, 1985 to fill the seat vacated byEllsworth Van Graafeiland. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on December 16, 1985. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1996 and served the court until his death on July 19, 1998.[1] He was succeeded to this post byRosemary Pooler.

Eastern District of New York

Altimari also served on theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was nominated to that court byRonald Reagan on November 23, 1982; his service in this court ended onDecember 23, 1985 when he elevated to the Second Circuit.[1] Altimari was succeeded in this position byReena Raggi.
