Felix Frankfurter
Felix Frankfurter (1882-1965) was an Associate Justice on theSupreme Court of the United States. He was nominated to the court by PresidentFranklin Delano Roosevelt on January 20, 1939. OnAugust 28, 1962, he assumedsenior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death onFebruary 22, 1965. Prior to joining the court, Frankfurter was a law professor at Harvard University.[1][2]
Frankfurter was one of nine justices nominated to the Supreme Court by President Roosevelt. He served under four different chief justices, during:The Hughes Court,The Stone Court,The Vinson Court andThe Warren Court.[3]
Early life and education
Frankfurter received his B.A. degree from the College of the City of New York in 1902 and hisLL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1906.[1]
Military service
Frankfurter was an Major in the United States Army JAG Corps, serving from 1917 to 1920.ref name=bio/>

Frankfurter was nominated by PresidentFranklin D. Roosevelt on January 5, 1939, to replace JusticeBenjamin Nathan Cardozo. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 17, 1939, and received commission onJanuary 20, 1939. OnAugust 28, 1962, he assumedsenior status and continued to serve in this capacity until his death onFebruary 22, 1965.[1] He was succeeded to this post by JusticeArthur Goldberg.
