I’m a father concerned about the future we as a society have cultivated. The Progressive and Liberal agendas do not translate to progress. Local elections matter and it’s time to bring common sense back to the conversation.
The business of politics has gotten too extreme, career politicians have not served us well. The say there is no money in the cure, but this is not just a business, this is our livelihood and at the current level of chaos it’s unsustainable. We need to restore order and common sense. I’m interested in public service as a community service not what it is today.
We must do better together!
I have the endorsement of the Florida Fraternal order of the Police, they protect us with their lives and they met, got to know and chose me. This is a great honor.
No, they must have the ability to produce, whether it be a successful family, business or other endeavor it’s important they be leaders .
Fairness in balancing the best interests of the district.
We must understand representing a community must make certain allowances to reach a fair middle ground but common sense, decency, integrity and character may not be compromised.

Noteworthy events

Allegations against Basabe dismissed (2023)

Basabe was under investigation following a series of allegations made by an aide who stated that the lawmaker slapped him across his face. The alleged incident took place in January at a Tallahassee lobbying firm at a reception following the inauguration of Gov. Ron DeSantis.[3]

“[Basabe] had been drinking and was mistaken about something that led him to slap me in the face in front of other people in the room,” the 25-year-old aide, Nicolas Frevola, said in a statement provided toCBS News Miami. “He then told me to stand in the corner. I was so embarrassed that I did as he asked.”

“What? I don’t remember anything like that,” Basabe told CBS.

Florida House SpeakerPaul M. Renner (R) reportedly hired an outside attorney to look into the alleged incident.

A report of the investigation into the allegations revealed that investigators failed to find any evidence, direct or circumstantial, that Rep. Basabe violated any state laws or policies.[4]

Lawsuit filed by former staff members (2023)

On July 6, 2023, two former members of Basabe’s staff filed a lawsuit in Leon County Circuit Court, accusing Basabe of sexual harassment. The lawsuit claimed that Basabe slapped one of his staff members across the face. Basabe denied the allegations.[5]

“Representative Basabe will not be litigating this frivolous and meritless lawsuit in the media or giving it any more public attention than it deserves, which is none,” said Basabe’s attorney, Robert Fernandez. “Representative Basabe looks forward to defending himself in court and we believe he will be fully vindicated once these allegations are scrutinized under the rule of law.”[6]

According to a November 2023 report of an investigation into the allegations against Rep. Basabe, investigators failed to find any evidence, direct or circumstantial, that he violated any state laws or policies.[7]
