Argyrakis began his campaign for attorney general in 2013 before withdrawing in December 2013 due to other commitments.[7] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.

Argyrakis entered the race for Nebraska Attorney General in 2010 as a Democrat. In 1988, Argyrakis worked with former U.S. Rep. Hal Daub, aRepublican, as a paid intern. As time went on, Argyrakis switched to theDemocratic Party citing frustrations with the Republican Party and former president George W. Bush.[8] Argyrakis withdrew his candidacy after three weeks and switched back to the Republican Party.[9]
