Edward Shea
Edward F. Shea is anArticle III federal judge serving on senior status for theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington. He joined the court in 1998 after being nominated by PresidentBill Clinton. He assumed senior status onJune 7, 2012.
Early life and education
A native ofMassachusetts, Shea graduated from Boston State College with his bachelor's degree in 1965 and later graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with hisJ.D. in 1970.
Professional career
Shea began his legal career as a law clerk for State Appeals JudgeHarold Petrie in theWashington Court of Appeals Division II from 1970 to 1971 before spending the rest of his pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney from 1971 to 1998.

Shea was nominated by PresidentBill Clinton on September 4, 1997 to a seat vacated byAlan McDonald as McDonald assumed senior status.[1] Shea was confirmed by the Senate on March 27, 1998 on a majority voice vote and received commission onApril 8, 1998.[2] He assumed senior status onJune 7, 2012.
