Don Gaetz (Republican Party) is a member of theFlorida State Senate, representingDistrict 1. He assumed office on November 5, 2024. His current term ends on November 7, 2028.

Biography
Don Gaetz was born inRugby, North Dakota. He earned a bachelor's degree in religion and political science from Concordia University in 1971 and a Master's of Public Administration (MPA) from Troy State University in 1999. His professional experience includes co-founding the VITAS Healthcare Corporation and serving as its vice chair from 1984 to 2004. Gaetz served as Town Chair of Seaside, Florida from 1990 to 1991, a member of the Okaloosa School Board from 1994 to 2000, and Superintendent of the Okaloosa County School District from 2000 to 2006.[1]
Florida Constitution Revision Commission
In February 2017, Gaetz was appointed to theFlorida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) by Florida State Senate PresidentJoe Negron, aRepublican.[2]
The Florida Constitution Revision Commission is a 37-member commission provided for in thestate constitution that reviews and proposes changes to theFlorida Constitution.[3] The CRC refers constitutional amendments directly to the ballot for a public vote.[4] The commission convenes every 20 years.[3] Members of the commission travel to different parts of Florida to perform research and receive public testimony before recommending these ballot measures.[5]
The Constitution Revision Commission of 2017-2018 was composed of 37 members.Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, appointed 15 members of the CRC. President of theFlorida Senate,Joe Negron (R), appointed nine members. Speaker of theFlorida House of Representatives,Richard Corcoran (R) appointed nine members.Jorge Labarga,chief justice of theFlorida Supreme Court, appointed three members.[6]
