David Briones
David Briones is afederal judge onsenior status with theUnited States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He joined the court in 1994 after being nominated by PresidentBill Clinton.
Early life and education
Born inEl Paso, Texas, Briones graduated from the University of Texas with his bachelor's degree in 1969 and from the University of Texas School of Law with hisJ.D. in 1971.[1]
Military service
Briones served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966.[1]

Briones was nominated to theUnited States District Court for the Western District of Texas by PresidentBill Clinton on August 25, 1994, to a seat vacated byLucius Bunton. TheAmerican Bar Association rated BrionesUnanimously Qualified for the nomination. Hearings on Briones' nomination were held before theSenate Judiciary Committee on October 6, 1994, and his nomination was reported by then-U.S. Sen.Joseph Biden (D-Del.) the same day. Briones was confirmed on a voice vote of theU.S. Senate on October 7, 1994, and he received his commission on October 11, 1994. Briones elected to takesenior status beginning on February 26, 2009. He was succeeded in this position by JudgeDavid Guaderrama.[1][2][3]
