Daniel Dominguez (Puerto Rico)
Daniel Dominguez is afederal judge serving on senior status for theU.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. He joined the court in 1994 after being nominated by PresidentBill Clinton. At the time of his appointment, he was a private practice attorney in Puerto Rico. He transitioned to senior status onJuly 31, 2011.[1][2]
Early life and education
Dominguez graduated from Boston University with his bachelor's degree in 1967 and later graduated from the University of Puerto Rico Law School with hisBachelor of Laws degree in 1970.[2]
Military service
Dominguez also served in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1967.[2]
Professional career
Dominguez spent his legal career in private practice in Puerto Rico from 1970 to 1994.[2]
Judicial career
District of Puerto Rico
On the recommendation of the Puerto Rican at-large Congressional delegation, Dominguez was nominated by PresidentBill Clinton onJune 21, 1994, to a seat vacated by JudgeGilberto Gierbolini-Ortiz as Gierbolini-Ortiz assumedsenior status. Dominguez was confirmed by the U.S. Senate onSeptember 28, 1994, on majority voice vote and received commission onSeptember 29, 1994.[3] He transitioned to senior status onJuly 31, 2011.[1]
