Biography
Charlie St. Clair was born in and lives inLaconia, New Hampshire. St. Clair graduated from Laconia High School in 1969. He earned a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in education from the University of Colorado in Boulder. His career experience includes working as a teacher in Colorado and Massachusetts, driving a cab, owning his own business, and working as the executive director of the Laconia Motorcycle Week Association. St. Clair served on the Downtown Laconia TIF Advisory Board, the City of Laconia Planning Board, the Heritage Commission for the City of Laconia, and joined as a member of the Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, Lakes Region Tourism Association, and Weirs Action Committee.[1]

Aspecial election for the position ofNew Hampshire House of Representatives District Belknap 9 was held on September 12, 2017. A primary election was scheduled for September 12, 2017, with the special election on November 7, 2017, but the primary was canceled after only one person from each party filed. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 16, 2017.[2]
The seat became vacant on May 17, 2017, afterRobert Fisher (R) resigned from the state House. It was revealed that he was the creator of an online forum on the website Reddit. The forum—called The Red Pill—promoted itself as a "discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men."[3] Fisher said he resigned because "...the falsehoods, lies and comments of an overzealous blogger and some of my colleagues have created a situation where I must genuinely consider the safety and well-being of my girlfriend, my family, and myself."[4][5]
