Charles Hardy (Arizona)
Charles Hardy is afederal judge for theUnited States District Court for the District of Arizona. He joined the court in 1980 after being nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter. Hardy is serving onsenior status.[1] Hardy died on December 24th, 2010.
Early life and education
Hardy graduated from the University of Arizona with his bachelor's degree in 1947 and later graduated from Arizona Law with hisBachelor of Laws degree in 1950. He served as a U.S. Army Captain on active duty in Field Artillery from 1941 to 1946.[1]
Professional career
Hardy became a private practice attorney licensed in the State ofArizona from 1949 to 1952 and also served as a Deputy county attorney forMaricopa County from 1952 to 1955. Hardy resumed private practice work inArizona in 1956 before becomingAssistant Arizona Attorney General from 1957 to 1959 before serving again as a private practice attorney licensed inArizona from 1959 to 1966. Hardy served as a superior court judge on theMaricopa County Superior Court from 1967 to 1980.[1]
Judicial nominations and appointments
District of Arizona
Hardy was nominated by PresidentJimmy Carter onApril 2, 1980 to a seat vacated byWalter Craig. Hardy was confirmed by the US Senate onMay 21, 1980 and received commission onMay 23, 1980. Hardy later assumed senior status onJune 2, 1990.[1] He was succeeded in this position byStephen McNamee.
