Brian Taniguchi
Brian Taniguchi (Democratic Party) was a member of theHawaii State Senate, representingDistrict 11. He assumed office on November 6, 2012. He left office on November 8, 2022.
Taniguchi (Democratic Party) won re-election to theHawaii State Senate to representDistrict 11 outright in the Democratic primary onAugust 8, 2020, after the general election was canceled.
Taniguchi was first elected to theHawaii State Senate in 1994. He previously represented District 11 from 1994 to 2002 and District 10 from 2002 to 2012. Taniguchi served asSenate majority whip in 2015. He served in theHawaii House of Representatives from 1980 to 1994.
Biography
Taniguchi earned his B.A. from the University of Hawaii - Manoa in 1973 and his J.D. from Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii in 1978.
Taniguchi's professional experience includes working as a Law Clerk for Judge Hiroshi Kato, working as Research Aide for Governor John Burns from 1971 to 1972, working as a private practice attorney from 1980 to 1989, working as Legal Counsel/Corporate/Marketing Attorney for the City Bank and International Savings and Loan from 1988 to 2005, Director of Koga Engineering and Construction and a Consultant for Central Pacific Bank since 2005 to the present.
