Bill Keller is afederal judge onsenior status for theUnited States District Court for the Central District of California. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan. Keller tooksenior status on October 29, 1999.[1]

Early life and education

Keller graduated from the University of California-Berkley with a B.S. in 1956 and later graduated from the UCLA Law with hisLL.B. degree in 1960.[1]

Professional career

Keller began his legal career as an Assistant US Attorney for the Southern District of California from 1961 to 1964 before entering into private practice licensed in the State ofCalifornia from 1964 to 1972. In 1972, PresidentRichard Nixon nominated Keller as U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California from 1972 to 1977 before resuming private practice work from 1977 to 1984.[1]

Judicial career

Central District of California

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Pete Wilson, Keller was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan on September 11, 1984 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved byCongress.[1] Keller was confirmed by theSenate on October 3, 1984 on a senate vote and received commission onOctober 4, 1984. Keller later assumedsenior status onOctober 29, 1999.
