My husband, Jonathan, a pediatrician, and I moved to Janesville over 25 years ago. Our two children attended K-12 school in the Janesville public School District. My career of over 30 years includes manufacturing, retail, airline and education services.I taught part-time at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for more than 25 years. I consulted at the School District of Janesville, helping it win a competitive state recognition. Currently, in addition to owning a small business, Custom College Solutions, I serve on the boards of Downtown Janesville Inc., Janesville Woman’s Club, and the Foundation for the Preservation of 108 S. Jackson. In addition, she is a member of the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater Rock County Dean’s Advisory Board, and Janesville Morning Rotary Club. As a small business owner, educator, and community volunteer, I have worked with a variety of businesses, families, and students. I know how they struggle, and I celebrate with them when they succeed. It is getting harder and harder to succeed without fair wages, competitive education, and manageable healthcare
  • Public service means serving all people in my community, my district and my state. Question is how do we do the most good for the most people with the resources at hand.

Public service means tackling problems, large and small to make life better for those we serve. That is what government and public servants should do every day. Communities deserve open, honest government servants who listen, research and solve their problems.

Public servants are accountable as are the state and federal governments. Problem solving has to include substantive, collaborative discussion and research. Resource distribution and long-term solutions rely on credible data-driven and evidence-based decisions.
  • Reproductive RightsAll women deserve the right to make their own decisions for their reproductive healthcare. We need to trust them to make the best decisions for their health, their families and their futures.
  • Quality, accessible Pre-K through post high school public education should serve all learners and delivers support services. Positive education outcomes benefit everyone from businesses, retirees, families, communities to students themselves at all levels. Wisconsin has a proud heritage of superb education and educators that demand our continued support
In addition to reproductive rights, healthcare, education, affordable and accessible childcare and housing, family supporting jobs and wages and clean water are my top priorities.
Honesty, accountability and a public service mindset. Ability and willingness to do the most good for the most people with resources available. An open mind that does not judge the sick, the poor or the struggling, but rather embraces the challenge of lifting each and every person.
Shelver at the local public library for about 7 years.
Endorsed by incumbent, Rep. Sue Conley, former state representative, Deb Kolste, former state senator, Tim Cullen, Rep. Tod Ohnstad, Rock County District Attorney, David O'Leary, Janesville School Board Commissioner, Greg Ardrey and former Rock County Sheriff, Bob Spoden.

Scorecards

See also:State legislative scorecards andState legislative scorecards in Wisconsin

Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
