Alfred S. Irving is afederal judge onsenior status with theSuperior Court of the District of Columbia. He was appointed by PresidentGeorge W. Bush and joined the court on December 3, 2008.[1]

Education

Irving received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in 1981 and hisJ.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1987. Prior to earning his law degree, Irving worked with MCI Telecommunications.[1]

Career

Irving has worked in both private practice and the public sector. He worked for fifteen years in private practice, focusing on utility ratemaking. In 1993, he became a Trial Attorney for theUnited States Department of Justice. He worked in several different positions before joining the Superior Court.[1] He assumedsenior status on March 21, 2025.[2]
