Albert Bryan, Sr.
Albert Vickers Bryan, Sr. (1899-1984) was afederal judge on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit and theUnited States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
Fourth Circuit
Bryan was nominated to the Fourth Circuit by PresidentJohn F. Kennedy on August 2, 1961, to a new seat created by 75 Stat. 80; he was confirmed by the Senate onAugust 15, 1961, and received commission that same day. He assumedsenior status onMay 3, 1972, and served in that capacity until his death onMarch 13, 1984.[1]
Eastern District of Virginia
Bryan was nominated to theEastern District of Virginia by PresidentHarry Truman on May 15, 1947, to a seat vacated byRobert Nelson Pollard; he was confirmed by the Senate on June 3, 1947, and received his commission onJune 5th. He served aschief judge from 1959 until his advancement to the Fourth Circuit onAugust 23, 1961.[1] Bryan was succeeded in this position byJohn Butzner.
