Alan Norris
Alan Eugene Norris is afederal judge onsenior status with theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He joined the court in 1986 after being nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan.[1]
Early life and education
A native ofColumbus, Ohio, Norris graduated from Otterbein College with his bachelor's degree in 1957, from New York University School of Law with hisLL.B. in 1960, and from the University of Virginia School of Law with hisLL.M. in 1986.[1]

Norris was nominated to theUnited States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit by PresidentRonald Reagan on April 22, 1986, to a seat vacated by JudgeLeroy Contie. Hearings on Norris' nomination were held before theUnited States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on May 14, 1986, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) on June 5, 1986. Norris was confirmed on a voice vote of theU.S. Senate on June 6, 1986, and he received his commission on July 1, 1986. Norris assumedsenior status on July 1, 2001.[1][2] He was succeeded in this position by JudgeDeborah Cook.
