Upon graduation from UNI, I accepted a full-time position at Dickey Transport where I progressed to serve as President for the past 8 years. In addition, I have been a full time, single father of 2 children for the past 16 years.
I have always had a community focused mindset which has let me to volunteer in many groups and organizations. Including 9 years as board member and past president of the Jefferson County Hospital Foundation, a member of the Iowa Firefighters Association for 32 years, a current officer and member of the Packwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department for 32 years, and a parish council member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield where I have been an active member all my life. Professionally, I am the former Chairman of the Board of the Iowa Motor Truck Association where I currently sit on the board of directors.
However the highlight of my career came 4 years ago when I was elected to serve my first term in the Iowa Senate and then 2 years ago when I was re-elected to serve my 2nd term. With my business background, I serve as the Chairman of the Senate Workforce committee, Vice-Chair of the Transportation committee, Vice-Chair of Economic Development Appropriations, Commerce committee, and the Ways & Means committee.- I am seeking re-election to continue to protect what common sense looks like!
- The largest issues that our country is facing can not be solves by government legislation.
- Todays Democratic Party does not desire equality of opportunity, rather they desire equality of outcomes.
Several years ago, I was invited by the German Bundestag (their federal parliament) to speak to them on their desire (and my reluctance) to electrify their entire trucking transportation infrastructure. While I was there, I fortunate enough to make President Reagans speech full circle by visiting the Brandenburg Gate and stood where President Reagan stood.

Scorecards
Ascorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
