We produce signature dairy products for the University of Wisconsin – Madison and the surrounding community. Through this, the Babcock Dairy Plant and Dairy Store help support the University of Wisconsin Food Science Department’s mission of research, teaching and outreach.
Dining With Babcock
Babcock serves a variety of sandwiches to enjoy in the store or for curbside pickup. Each sandwich is made fresh and features cheese made here at Babcock Hall. In-store dining and pickup are available at this time. Cash is no longer accepted.
Ice Cream
Our renowned ice cream is available in a wide variety of flavors and styles. Our recipe for our standard ice cream mix hasn’t changed since we began in 1951. The Dairy Store typically has around 20 flavors on hand, so stop by and enjoy your favorite ice cream treat in our store or take home a pint, half-gallon or a three-gallon tub.
Cheese
Since 1951, the Babcock Dairy Plant has been producing a wide variety of award-winning cheeses. We offer many flavors of cheese, and they are all made by our student employees under the supervision of licensed cheesemakers.

Parking
There are first-come, first-serve, paid parking spaces available in front of our building on Linden Drive.
Paid parking is available at Lot 36 on Observatory Drive.
The back lot is open for free parking after 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays, the back lot is open all day to the public for free parking, but there are no handicapped entrances on that side of the building.
