日本に移住するまで25年間ドイツに暮らしていたが、今のドイツ社会を語るにはたまには現地へ行ってその空気に身を浸さないとわからないことがいろいろとある。技術が発展してビデオ通話で自然にコミュニケーションをとっているつもりでも、こぼれ落ちる情報は想像以上に多いのだ。ということで先日ドイツに戻った際、ウクライナ戦争や移民難民問題についてどんな風に思っているかを家族や友人に聞いてみた。数年前なら「なぜ我々ドイツの正しい方法を他の国は理解しないのだろう」的なパワフル理論を（絶妙に現実を無視しながら）主張していた気がするのだが、今回はむしろ「正直、そのあたりを真面目に考えるのに疲れてきた」という諦念が混じった感触の人が多くて驚いた。
