Yan Sibelius (d.8 dekabr1865 – ö.20 sentyabr1957) — XIX əsrin sonu ilə XX əsrin başlanğıcındaklassik musiqi tarixində adı keçmiş qiymətliFinlandiyalı bəstəkar. Musiqisi Finlandiyanın milli şəxsiyyətində böyük rol almışdır.
SibeliusHämeenlinnada Finlandiyanın Rus Böyük Dükalığındaİsveçli bir ailənin oğlu olaraq dünyaya gəldi. Atası Christian Sibelius şəhərin həkimi, anasının adıysa Maria idi. Ailəsi arasındaJanne olaraq bilinməsinə baxmayaraq, şagirdlik illərində dənizçiliklə məşğul olan əmisinin gətirdiyi yığınla kartla adınınFransızda deyildiyi kimiYanı istifadə etməyə başladı. Yan daha 2 yaşındaykən atası tifodan həyatını itirdi. Bu kədər daha sonra iqtisadi çətinlikləriylə davam etdi. Atası həyatdaykən heç bir zaman əlindəki pulu yaxşı bir şəkildə xərcləməmiş, bu ailənin geriyə qalan üzvlərinin Marianın anasına aid bir evə daşınmasına səbəb olmuşdu. Bu evdə Yanın atasının ölümündən sonra bir körpə dünyaya gəlmişdi.
Yan, Hämeenlinnada məktəbə getdi və məktəbin orkestrında erkən yaşda çalmağa başladı. Bacısı və özündən kiçik qardaşı musiqi baxımından qabiliyyətliydi. Analarının də atalarının da ailələri musiqilə iç-içəydilər. Yanın atası Christian gitara çalırdı. Romantik, odandıq "möcüzə bir şəkildə saf" və yaxşı ürəkli bir adam olaraq bilinərdi. Daha sonra Sibelius: "... mənim içimdə saf olan hər şey, daxili məntiqdə əskik olsa belə mənim ruhuma çox şey ifadə edir." demişdir.Sibelius Akademiyasıda oxumuşdur vəSibelius Akademiyası adını Yan Sibeliusdan almışdır.
