Runciter was aGrand Maester during the late reign of KingJaehaerys I Targaryen and the early reign of KingViserys I Targaryen.[1][2]
History
Runciter was appointed in101 AC after the death of Grand MaesterAllar. He had only been inKing's Landing a short time before PrinceBaelon Targaryen fell ill, complaining of severe pain in his stomach. Runciter treated Baelon and was able to bring his fever down and eased his pain withmilk of the poppy, but the prince's condition continued to worsen until he died on the fifth day of hisillness. Runciter opened the corpse and attributed the prince's death to aburst belly.[1][2][3]
Runciter later served KingViserys I Targaryen after Jaehaerys passed away in103 AC.[1] In his records, he only cites a quarrel with King Viserys as the reason for PrinceDaemon Targaryen's second exile.[2] He died in112 AC and was replaced by Grand MaesterMellos.[1][2]
