This annual award is presented to an individual who has contributed important service to the processor microarchitecture and microsystems community while also serving as an active member of SIGMICRO who has contributed significantly to SIGMICRO and/or SIGMICRO-sponsored conference committees. The award includes an engraved memento and a $1000 honorarium.
The SIGMICRO Outstanding Dissertation award recognizes excellent thesis research by doctoral candidates in the field of computer microarchitecture. Dissertations are reviewed for technical depth and significance of the research contribution, potential impact, and quality of presentation. The winner and up to two runners-up are recognized at the annual MICRO conference Awards Session and receive a plaque or framed certificate.
The annual SIGMICRO Early Career Award recognizes a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of microarchitecture during the early part of their career. Depth, impact, and novelty of the researcher's contributions will are key criteria upon which the Early Career award committee evaluates the nominees. Also of particular interest are strong research contributions made independently from the nominee's PhD advisor. The awardee receives a plaque or framed certificate.

In March 2020 ACM formed a Presidential Task Force (PTF) to help conference organizers transition their events to online. The PTF is working on a guide to offer practical advice and shed light on the largely unfamiliar territory of online conferencing.
