Oscar Piastri heads to Hungarian Grand Prix with some proper wind in his aero-sails after his British GP efforts, with the Hungaroring being another familiar track for the Aussie Ace.
What a weekend it will be for Aussie F1 fans, having two Aussies on the grid for the first time since Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo last shared a track at Brazil in 2013.
On that weekend, Webber scored a P2 and Ricciardo finished tenth for Toro Rosso, which is now of course AlphaTauri.
Almost ten years on and the dual Aussie battle is back, with Ricciardo having taken his second ever F1 victory at the Hungaroring in 2014, as well as two more successive podiums, whilst Piastri takes it on in an F1 car for the first time.
He raced there for the first time in 2018 in the Formula Renault Eurocup for Arden International, where he scored a P7 and P4 in his formative year in the 2.0L Renault F4R 832 machinery.
His second visit was in 2019, the year that Piastri would take the first of his three giant strides into the junior record books.

Having switched to R-Ace GP, his return to the Hungaroring saw him arrive on the back of a double at the Nurburgring and take his fifth pole of the year for Race 2.
An unfortunate DNF/DNS in race one saw him hit a patch of standing water on the formation lap, but he hit back in Race 2, winning by 2.8s from pole to extend his championship lead to 37.5 points in a winning season.
The Hungaroring continued to be kind to the Melbournian when he made the switch to F3 with the Venetian based Prema Racing team.
Once again he grabbed a scoop of championship points in his step up into the V6 Dallara F3 2019 car, as the F3 season went there for races 5 and 6 of its 2020 season.

Piastri would take back-to-back second places in the Sprint and Features races behind current F2 racer Theo Pourchaire and German racer David Beckmann, extending his early season championship lead to 26 points after winning the opening race of the year in Austria.
The 2021 Formula 2 season didn’t visit the Hungaroring, but Piastri was a part of the Alpine support race team when Estaban Ocon took his maiden F1 win.
In 2022 he was still in the Alpine garage on its visit to Budapest, and now he goes there in a much improved, and very fast MCL 60 McLaren race car a week after he almost bagged his maiden podium at Silverstone.

“It’d been a while since I’d been there. Cool track in an F1 car, especially with a lot of high-speed corners to really feel the limits of an F1 car, so it was a fun day out.”
Piastri and Ricciardo take on the rest of the F1 field this weekend, July 21-23, kicking off with three practice sessions, the first of which comes this Friday night at 9:30pm (AEST).

Formula One, or F1, is the highest class of single-seater auto racing, governed by the Fédération Internationale de l\'Automobile (FIA) and is owned by Liberty Media. The name "Formula One" refers to the set of rules or formula that all cars and drivers must comply with. The F1 season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, held on purpose-built circuits or public roads around the world. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual championships: one for drivers and one for constructors (teams). The history of Formula One can be traced back to the pre-war Grand Prix racing, which featured open-wheel cars with supercharged engines. The first World Championship of Drivers was organised by the FIA in 1950, following the end of World War II. The first race was held at Silverstone, England, and was won by Giuseppe Farina, driving an Alfa Romeo. The first constructors\' championship was introduced in 1958 and was won by Vanwall.Formula One has seen many changes and innovations over the years, both in terms of technology and regulations. Some of the most notable developments include the introduction of rear-engined cars in the late 1950s, the use of aerodynamic wings in the late 1960s, the adoption of turbocharged engines in the late 1970s, the emergence of electronic driver aids in the late 1980s, the switch to V10 and then V8 engines in the 1990s and 2000s, and the introduction of hybrid power units in 2014.Formula One has also produced some of the greatest drivers and rivalries in the history of motorsport. Some of the most famous names include Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel. Some of the most intense battles for the championship have been between Fangio and Stirling Moss in the 1950s, Lauda and James Hunt in the 1970s, Senna and Prost in the late 1980s, Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen in the late 1990s, and Hamilton and Vettel in the 2010s.Formula One is widely regarded as the pinnacle of motorsport, attracting millions of fans and viewers worldwide. The sport is also a huge business, involving billions of dollars in revenue and expenditure. The teams compete for prize money, sponsorship deals, and media rights, while the drivers earn millions of dollars in salaries and endorsements. The sport is also influenced by politics, regulations, and controversies, such as doping scandals, espionage cases, safety issues, and environmental concerns. The following is a list of all F1 World Drivers Champions by year, from 1950 to 2020:1950-1959
