Review: Twilight (JP Free Otome Game)

Twilight is a Japanese free otome I played last year (you can get it fromfreem) and liveblogged on discord, but never got to making a full-fledged review. It was fully voiced (only mc partially voiced) with pretty nice art and a somewhat crazy yandere plot (no vampires here though, just only lolicon herbalists), so I figured I could edit my crazy comments into a somewhat readable form in this post.

Adult BL Gacha game review – NU: carnival

February 2022 has been a pretty blessed month for BL game enthusiasts with Slow Damage preview, UuultraC release date announcement and Tokyo Onmyoji release, but the one that has given the greatest shock (the pleasant kind) so far has been NU: carnival, an NSFW Husbando Collector BL gacha game! It’s made by a pretty new Taiwanese developer and available for mobile platforms only (I’m playing it using Bluestacks emulator though, it’s running perfectly smooth) with some browser access (only Safari). The game opened for preregistration in December 2021 and was simultaneously released in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean language with Japanese voice acting on February 24, 2022. While the game isn’t 100% voiced (sex scenes are fully voiced with animated movements and uncensored xxxx which I’ve never seen in a BL game), the voice cast is surprisingly professional and one of the big reasons I was drawn to the game.

The mc is voiced by my favorite voice actor Netoru whom you probably have heard in my Paradise posts as Azuma, the man is so freaking talented <333 As soon as I saw him in the cast, I was really hoping that we’d get a reversible protagonist but trying not to be too hopeful because Japanese games always seem to prefer fixed roles, but BASED TAIWAN DEVS WENT AND DID IT! Eiden (fixed protagonist name in English, the in-game characters call him “Eito” which I suppose is his name in jp) is a gay man who is very flexible and open-minded in regards to sex, you will experience zero “no homo” situations in this game from his side 🥰🥰🥰

Free BL game review/summary: Last request

LastRequest

I finished this free Japanese indie game called Last Request (download it atfreem!) over the weekend and it looked really pro with beautiful CGs and fully voiced (!!) characters, so I decided to review it (•̀ᴗ•́)و ̑̑

The story was short but pretty well-constructed with logical worldbuilding which was enough to reel me in. It wasn’tsuper deep but still had good writing that flowed naturally and made me and my friends emotional, so I think it definitely was worth the time (~1 hour without any break or more if you take frequent breaks like me to scream at friends)

The main character Amane is seen returning home in the first scene, when he feels the presence of someone and wonders if it’s a stalker. This dark haired guy appears and claims to be a demon who’d fulfill a wish in exchange for his soul.

Amane is like “wow this idiot” lol.

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 5 (NSFW)

The previous post, part 4 ishere!

This part is going to a lot shorter than the other ones because it’s basically just going to be the whole hscene. Unlike the dickstepping hscene where I added short videos and relied more on text, this time I will post much longer videos because the pacing is really good and I don’t want the viewers to abruptly stop midscene. I will write a description of the scenes below the videos as usual, but viewers are recommended to watch a video in one go because the voice actors really outdid themselves (≧▽≦)

Also apologies for the NSFW thumbnail in the last video ;v; Too bad google drive doesn’t let me change it…

________________________________________________________________

After the moment where the last post left off, we suddenly enter naughty territory (it feels a little strange because the BGM is still a sad one) where Mitsugi starts feeling up Azuma when the latter is still in a slightly dazed state. I giggled at how Azuma is like “I feel like I know this guy”.

Even though he gives a cold impression and feels like more machine than man, at times he feels so human.

At first he’s just surprised at how awkward Mitsugi is being despite his usual wit and confused what his motivation could be behind the sudden groping (duh, obviously it’s thirst), but his internal narration inevitably starts to become horny pretty quickly.

The rhythm of his heartbeats, transmitting across our closely glued chests, slowly tugs my consciousness back to reality—
But my recovering senses waver again when he touches me across my shorts.
Even though I wasn’t aroused, just the light touch itself felt good.
I know this sensation. Even though I’m reluctant to admit it, it was a feeling so good that it could kill.

Azuma closes his eyes and starts to cuddle Mitsugi’s head tighter, but that results in Mitsugi’s poor hair getting tangled again and he’s like “ouch” XD. But even his pained breaths on Azuma’s ears are enough for him to get all breathless, and Azuma judges himself for getting turned on from Mitsugi’s voice as well lol. He notes that it was the same “the last time too”, and then makes a double take at the phrase because his memories are still muddled. Mitsugi then rolls a bit so that the two of them are lying on their sides facing each other, and Azuma finally starts to recognize him.

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 4

The previous post, part 3 ishere!

This part is going to a little shorter than the other ones because I wanted to keep all the bonding and thirsting in one post and the upcoming NSFW stuff in another.

________________________________________________________________

I found it cute how once Mitsugi and Azuma were back in the loghouse, Azuma closed the door and Mitsugi turned on the lights, and Azuma’s narration informed us that this has become sort of a daily routine for them now. Glad to see they are functioning well as roommates despite the rocky beginning (◕‿◕✿)

Azuma sighs as the accumulated exhaustion from that day’s events hits him. He’s like “wow, to think a day would come when returning to this mess of a room would feel relaxing to me”. He doesn’t, however, forget to make fun of Mitsugi who is manspreading on the bed and is like-

bandicam 2020-02-18 17-33-20-071.jpg Seriously, contrary to his looks this guy really isn’t elegant at all.

Wooh~? ⊙ω⊙  Should I interpret this as you complementing Mitsugi’s looks as elegant, Azuma? 😏 Azuma stares at Mitsugi wondering how the latter can stay so normal even after the deaths of 2 people, and Mitsugi glares at him when he notices the staring.

Interactive Queer Fantasy Novel Review – Moonrise

A couple months ago I was invited to try outMoonrise, a text based urban fantasy interactive novel by Natalie Cannon. Although I usually stick to visual novels, since I had played and enjoyed other choice of games before, I decided to give Moonrise a try and write a review for it.

While the game had an interesting premise with smooth, enjoyable prose and witty modern humor, my overall experience has been a rather mixed bag, probably because I don’t appear to fall into the specific audience for the game. I’ll give a vague outline of the plot and share my impressions while trying to not give too much away. In order to prevent constantly switching between “the player”/“you”/“us” etc, when referring to the character we are playing I’m going to use “Heather” (a name from the list of choices available, you can also type in whatever you wish) and “she”.

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 3

The previous post, part 2b ishere!

The next day Azuma wakes up yawning. I got really worried at his “It seemed like I had slept with my face stuck on the floor, so there was a puddle of drool on it”, did this fool not use a futon after all!? ლ (#`ロ^;)> Let’s hope that he just rolled around enough that his face ended up touching the floor….

Azuma comments that he feels like he saw a number of dreams, of which one was super EROI (sadly he doesn’t remember any of it). He finds Mitsugi already awake and reading the notebook while sitting at the table. Mitsugi informs Azuma that he talks very loudly in his sleep, so loud in fact that Mitsugi couldn’t get any sleep (KARMA, BITCHHHHH 凸(¬‿¬) ). Azuma says sorry but inside he’s like “so it was a dream erotic enough to make me scream? So sad that I can’t remember T.T”

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 2b (SFW)

Part 2a (NSFW)here!

Azuma keeps tiredly rolling on the ground even as Mitsugi finally unties him (I laughed so hard at the narration of grass getting stuck on Azuma’s wet dick (˵¯̴͒ꇴ¯̴͒˵) ). Mitsugi is like “roll if you wanna but first put away that filthy dicc” and that makes Azuma return to the world of living and reignites his rage. Mitsugi is lucky that Azuma is not the violent type, I would’ve punched him waaay before this if it were me in Azuma’s place, and after this incident I’d break his leg (Azuma is physically much more fit than Mitsugi so he could do it if he put his mind on it). My mature boi Azuma actually holds back his urge to punch Mitsugi while telling himself that “injuring him would slow down the boat’s progress”. See Mitsugi?! He’s a good boy who’s serious about ensuring people’s survival, not a slacker like you believe 凸ಠ益ಠ)凸

Azuma finally confronts Mitsugi and says that while he admits his fault in sleeping during work (I almost jumped into the screen to smack Mitsugi when he reacted to this part with “wow, so you get it”, THE NERVE OF THIS BITCH (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻), that isn’t a reason for Mitsugi to embarrass him like this. He also asks Mitsugi if he did this because he’s gay, this feels like an insult to gay ppl lmao. Being gay wouldn’t be reason enough to sexually harass somebody ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 2a (NSFW)

Mitsugi route part 1here!

From now on, I’ll be including lots of videos in the posts because the VAs of Paradise are freaking amazing and the tone of the character voices is very important in figuring out the hidden context in a lot of scenes. If a scene is crucial to understand the plot or a character (or if it’s just cool imo, lol) I will also include the text translation below the video in case you can’t see the video at that moment.

As promised, a SPICY scene for you all XD My apologies for being unable to censor the NSFW thumbnail of the last video, because it’s NSFW I uploaded it to google drive instead of YT, and GD doesn’t have the custom thumbnails option.

————————————

Azuma feels super attacked by Mitsugi’s tongue-lashing. (I felt sad at his monologue “Being called an idiot really rubs me the wrong way. I AM an idiot, but you don’t have to say it like that.” You’re not an idiot Azuma!! You’re a good, smart boi T.T) He thinks that it’s unfair of Mitsugi to blame him for a physiological response of the male body when he’s also a man. He angrily asks Mitsugi if he never gets morning wood and is detached from such baser instincts, but before he can finish his sentence, Mitsugi very casually admits that he also gets them and renders Azuma speechless.

Mitsugi does, however, state that him getting morning woods isn’t the issue now. He gets all uppity about it “look at you being lazy at work and popping boners while everyone is working hard for survival” uh no bitch didn’t Azuma already explain why he’s tired? (ಠ ∩ಠ)

(EDIT: I was super mad during my first playthrough and compared Mitsugi to a narc who’s convinced nothing is his fault, but I guess the problem is that both of them are thinking in parallel lines regarding the Azuma sleeping on the floor incident. From Mitsugi’s perspective, Azuma is a dumbass who didn’t look for the spare futon despite Mitsugi giving what he thinks is explicit permission, but in Azuma and also the player’s eyes Mitsugi is 100% at fault for turning off the light too soon and sending the wrong message. ╭(๑¯д¯๑)╮)

Mitsugi: Our food stock is low, the rescue isn’t coming either, and there has even been a casualty.
Mitsugi: Because we might end up dead too at this rate, we decided to make a boat to escape this place.
Mitsugi: Yet you dare skip out on that work to take a nap, then have the audacity to pop a boner…?

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Mitsugi route part 1

Common route last part here!

Now we have finally started Mitsugi route! This is the first part out of 3 or 4.
_____________________________________

Azuma forgets that Mitsugi is also in the shipbuilding group, plus he also has an interest in building things (like plastic model cars and the like) so he simply wants to try building a ship. He volunteersan y to join the shipbuilding group and Matauda, their de-facto-leader, is accepting of his decision. Mitsugi disapproves with a tut, making Azuma belatedly realize what he just signed up for (;´Д`). He wants to backpedal but loses his chance as everyone keeps talking about their own preferences.

Shimada is in shipbuilding group because he likes delicate work (Mitsugi is pleased and thanks him for helping out, wow niceness?), Takara wants to search for food (sasuga foodie boi (*°∀°)=3), Kido thinks that the food collection group needs more people so he also wants to join, Hongou plans to help out the shipbuilding group when he is not attempting to communicate with the mainland. During this whole time Azuma just keeps staring awkwardly and trying to get a word in and fails. In the end Matsuda answers him only when it is too late and everyone has chosen their groups, but Azuma still tries and asks Matsuda whether it is OK for him to be in the shipbuilding group. He wanted Matsuda to take a hint and put him in the food collection group by switching him out with someone else, but Matsuda just turns to Mitsugi and enquires if he has any problems with Azuma joining them.

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Common route last part (part 3)

Part 2 here!

This concludes the common route, we’ll move on to Mitsugi route in the next part.
_____________________________________

Day 6

The island residents spend most of the day doing the same things as day 5 but don’t obtain much success. There is still no signs of the ship, and tension is high in the air. The musclehead with a short temper and the seaweed head from the canon fodder quartet start arguing, blaming each other for their lack of success and musclehead even takes out his frustration on the glasses dude trying to mediate. In the end Matsuda steps in to calm them down. During this whole time Azuma keeps looking on like an observer, apathy skill level over 9000.

“I can see why they would get frustrated and lose their cool.”

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Common route part 2

Part 1here, please go read it first if you haven’t yet!

Part 3 should conclude the common route, then we’ll move on to Mitsugi route. I’ll go for Mitsugi first because I hate him the most(EDIT: I made this statement during my first playthrough, I’ll talk about my current feelings about him at the end of his route post), and I’m sad that Shimada isn’t apparently capture character because he’s cute despite the goatee. I will, however, edit the post to include how certain scenes during the common route vary slightly depending on the route choices.

BL game Review/Summary: Paradise: Common route part 1

Ok guys I am back with a review/summary of Pil/Slash’s newest game, Paradise, even though I should probably finish the next part for the review of Ai wa, Nikushimi ni Yoku Niteiru first ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ.

Paradise is a dark survival thriller Boys Love Game that is a collaboration project between Pil/Slash and LOVE&DESTROY. Both companies are infamous for the dark and mindscrew-y storylines in their games (many of you might be familiar with LOVE&DESTROY’s -CAGE OPEN- and Pil/Slash’s Shingakkou -Noli me tangere-), and Paradise is also not an exception to that norm despite the brightly colored pretty art and a seemingly happy-go-lucky protagonist.

I remember seeing the summary onvndb before, but by the time I started the game I had forgotten most of it. I didn’t look it up again because I wanted to go in as blind as possible, and I will try to write this review in a way that you don’t get spoiled for future routes. The order I followed was Mitsugi -> Matsuda -> Takara, and it was a wise choice, though not for the reasons I expected XD (I will explain this after I’m finished with reviewing everything).

The original game came out on November 30th 2017, and a sequel fandisc ”Paradise -MUSUBI-” was released on October 12th 2018. The fandisc contains the after stories that follow the happy ends of the original game, as well as retellings of some scenes from the original game from the point of view of other characters. A second fandisc came out just yesterday, July 26th 2019. I haven’t played it yet, but it seems darker compared to the previous FD and it seems that instead of following the original game endings, this will change up the story from the very start and be more informative about the overall mystery (like a true route).

I think I’ve spent enough time introducing the game, so I’m jumping right into my let’s play/summary combination. No introduction about the characters because some of them are spoilery + I am feeling a bit under the weather. I might update this post later to turn it into a more proper review.

BL game Review/Summary: Ego to Koukai no Dilemma

I finished playingEgo to Koukai no Dilemma over the weekend, and it was surprisingly a great ride! It’s pretty short too since there is only one LI, so I decided to choose it for my first ever BL game review. You can download a trial version of the gamehere (click any the こちらから and look for a button the 体験版 word in the page that opens).

For any shounen-ai lovers, I must warn you that this game is R18 and rather messed up with yandere elements, but I should also warn hardcore people looking forward to a psychopath love interest murdering people left and right that none of the bad ends have any crazy murder stuff despite how creepy the title screen looks (even the worst scenario just has some heartbreak and questionable sex acts). The happy end that seems to be canon is actually sweet enough to defeat many classic shoujo manga (´。• ω •。`) ♡

Because I don’t want my readers to get into awkward situations, I’ll sometimes crop or censor the NSFW images in this post. Click on the censored images to see the actual uncensored images.

Review+Summary: Ai wa, Nikushimi ni Yoku Niteiru. Nikushimi wa, Ai ni Yoku Niteiru: Common route part 1

After a thousand years, I return to this blog with a long summary/review of an R18 otome game by PIL-VAMP (they are a sister company of PIL-SLASH who are known for their dark BL games) calledAi wa, Nikushimi ni Yoku Niteiru Nikushimi wa, Ai ni Yoku Niteiru (Love resembles hate, hate resembles love). It has been such a long time since I got so engrossed in the plot of an otome game, so despite a little issues here and there I really enjoyed this game and decided to come out of hibernation, lol. (I also wrote a vndb summary of it which you can check outhere.)

Let me explain the format of this review first. In this post I plan to talk about the characters and the general setting first, then describe the plot until the point where routes diverge. Later I’m going to make separate posts about different routes instead of one longass post. The game encourages us to follow a certain order but I’m going to review them in a certain slightly different order for maximum emotional satisfaction.

Diamond no Kuni no Alice- Joker route translation/review

Believe me, Alice. If imprisoning you was my only goal, I wouldn’t have this much devotion towards you.” -Joker

Joker has a short route of his own in Diamond no Kuni no Alice ~Wonderful Wonder World~, and in this post I reviewed his scenes (two of them) in a lot of detail while opting for word-to-word translation for the end. I went for the good end, “the Stage for Two”.

Note: To completely understand the happenings of Joker’s route one needs to have some ideas about the dream train scenes that are a part of the common route, which I’ll cover someday. Far away into the future, but someday. XD I’ll probably cover the common scenes during my review of Blood’s route, which is crazy long and still work in progress.

~1st ticket~

Alice is in town when she bangs into some guy, but he’s nice enough to apologize even though Alice was the one who ran into him. Alice feels happy about how people are so much calmer during the Survey meetings, but she gets a little tired from all the crowds and decides to go somewhere quiet. Which somehow equals her straying off into the Forest of Arrows (even Alice is confused at her own actions XD).

Kuchihatenu MASTERPOST!

Well, I finished Hijikata’s and Saito’s route way back, but never got around to reposting in this blog and I’m too lazy to make new posts for all the 15 parts >.> So here you go, links to all the parts, posted in tumblr.

Parts 1-3 Common route+Normal end. 4-8 Hijikata’s route, 9-16 Saitou’s route

Part1  Part2 Part3

Part4  Part5 Part6 Part7 Part8

Part9 Part10 Part11  Part12 Part13 Part14 Part15 Part16 (read-only light nsfw)

While as a doujin game it wasn’t bad, the original game was such an epic that I kinda lost my interest in this game after finishing it once and going back to replay the original Hakuoki, I won’t be doing any thorough reviews for Sano, Heisuke or Okita, sorry. In fact even going back to read these posts make me cringe a bit from my crappy translations, but it would be cruel to just delete them so here~

[Otome Game Review] Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo!!!!!

Love Revo is the last JAPANESE Otome game I actually managed to finish….so I’ll be starting my reviews from this game. Although it wasn’t the first otome game I ever played, it was the first game that I saw fanart of in deviantart and got interested in otome gaming in general. Also the fanartist mentioned here was the CG artist for Doujin freeware Re:Alistair++, which WAS my first otome game, so you could say Love Revo! is the main culprit behind my otome game obesession, haha.

Game Title: Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo!!
Original title:乙女的恋革命★ラブレボ!!
Company: Asgard & Interchannel
Release Date: 2008-03-28
Genre: All Ages, Otome Game
Voice:Full Voiced (PC version only)
Translated:DS version only
Platform:PC, Nintendo DS, PSP

First of all if anyone is interested in reading about this game in detail there is anawesome review (albeit with spoilers, so beware!) She has already completed all the possible endings for all the bishies, whereas I am only finished with 4 conquests so far. *sigh*

Basically, IMO the most interesting about this game is its heroine. Unlike most otome games where the main character is either unseen or the usual “looks-totally-hot-but-claims-to-be-not” type of Mary sue-ish character(I’m looking at YOU, Starry sky), the heroine in this game is a HUGE 100 kg fatty chick with an attitude and utter disregard about her weight. Here’s an exchange with the school doctor Ryoutaro about her weight:
