Subject: Fred Scott - Crooning Deputy
Fred Scott, hardly charismatic and an okay singer with a crooner style nasal baritone voice is a deputy sheriff - his father Frank La Rue is sheriff. Fred ... is in love with Phoebe Logan (who only appeared in this movie - IMDb), who is the sister of the baddest bad guy around, Charles King. When LaRue is shot, Scott wants to take his place - but King has told Logan he will kill Scott, so she refuses to marry him unless he gives up being a lawman - and he does. That is until his father's dead body is delivered to his wedding - now he has to become sheriff and do his duty. The rest of the film is the back and forth chase of Scott and King for each other - until the finale. Deputy sheriff Al St. John provides a little typically stupid humor. IMDb says its a 61:00film, but we only get 48:39- I'm not sure we need more.

He indeed fights and is a deputy, and a good baritone; he sings two songs.
An odd moment that is glossed over; they find his fathers dead body at his wedding. ... How often does that happen? Actually the body is delivered, no postage due. It just struck me as really odd, not the body, the no postage due.
Comic relief Fuzzy is in this one. I like him, so watch it.

Fighting Deputy is a pretty standard and tame western which has a high body count (3 at least) which is surprising for a movie such as this. Scar Adams ... (because, yes, he has a scar) is tearing the wild west apart! While the Sheriff is on the look-out for Scar and his gang, the Sheriff¡¯s son wants no part of his dad¡¯s job, that is, until Dad meets an unfortunate demise.. Oh no1 What is he to do!??
This film is okay I guess, somewhat dry and slow in some places, but Fred Scott is fun to watch in that dopey kind of way. Plus, he sings two ridiculous songs, while his girlfriend tries in vain to keep up with her air-guitaring.
Bonus points: Ricochet sound effects!

WellÃÂ..This is really a fair to Midland show and I love these gunfights. I know that if youÃÂre like me while being a part of a posse and a shootinÃÂ ... at the bad guys youÃÂd want to be in a good place soÃÂs youÃÂd have a better chance at shootinÃÂ what youÃÂre a shootinÃÂ at. Kinda like Gun Control, beinÃÂ able to hit what youÃÂre aiminÃÂ at heh, heh. I know IÃÂd wanna be on a roof top, a top of a large boulder, behind a mesquite bush orrrr maybe in a clearing soÃÂs IÃÂd be able to see the bad guys a little better for shootinÃÂ ÃÂem. Yup thatÃÂs whereÃÂd I wann be for sure.
This movie is kinda like that, you know, where the two loversÃÂ kinfolk get all shot up and at the end everyone is happy and a singinÃÂ those purty songs to each other knowinÃÂ theyÃÂs gonna be happy lovers for ever with no palimony, alimony and child support to have to pay ÃÂcause you is da man.
Good show though. I enjoyed it and if you are a true old time movie nutcase like I am youÃÂll love it too.
