Subject: A Polarizing Perspective on a Widely Debated Topic
Subject: A Polarizing Perspective on a Widely Debated Topic
Elliott presents a perspective on Constantine that is not commonly put forward by other scholars. He makes some pretty far-reaching claims regarding not ... only Constantine himself but also his parents and colleagues. However, none of these are even close to baseless claims -- he simply gives more weight to the primary sources that are more easily corroborated by others from the same time. Elliott's presentation of his perspective of the Christianity of Constantine is, in my opinion, second only to Leithart's book, Defending Constantine, which is the pinnacle work on Constantinian Christianity.
