The pamphlet was published by the Bristol Branch of the Historical Association, based at the University of Bristol. Electronic publication of the pamphlet series was undertaken from 2019 by the Bristol Record Society and the Bristol Historical Association. Scans of the pamphlets were posted initially on the websites of the two bodies. Slightly modified versions of the files began to be uploaded to The Internet Archive in 2023 to aid preservation and improve accessibility. Most of the 120 pamphlets published by the Bristol Historical Association (1960-2007) were written by established scholars in the field. They were subject to editorial oversight and peer review from senior academic historians at the University of Bristol and, later, the University of the West of England.
